An ambassador of the tradition
Yoga instructor, Supriti
Supriti, a devoted yoga practitioner for over 25 years, has introduced thousands of students to the life-enhancing benefits of yoga, making yoga accessible to people of all fitness levels.
“I must have taught thousands of students through UNM and Continuing Education by now. I love meeting people at the doorway into the world of yoga.”
Supriti first came to teach yoga at UNM through her friendship with Herb McDonald of Wellspring Yoga. “He essentially broke the ice and brought yoga to UNM. He is the person who brought me to UNM and then to UNM Continuing Education.” Supriti has been sharing her devotion to yoga with her students ever since.

Through teaching awareness of breath and focus on the moment, Supriti is able to instill the beauty and timeless wisdom of yoga into her classes. Countless people have learned to free their minds from the barrage of random thoughts and worries, and to break down lifetimes of bad posture, back problems, and pain. Together with her colleagues at High Desert Yoga, she offers yoga to people with many different limitations and challenges.

Although she is “almost 60,” Supriti has enjoyed a long, physically demanding career in both massage therapy and the practice and teaching of yoga — without injuries and in good health — which she attributes to the practice of yoga. Note the limber pose, left, made possible by years of Yoga practice.
Supriti teaches Women’s Yoga and Yoga for Back Pain for Continuing Education.
Supriti’s current classes may include:
